Some time back Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority developed residential complexes in the city of Mumbai and suburbs. As the townships were coming up, private developers also came forward to add to the housing with around these townships.
Now these buildings need redevelopment, since the life of these buildings is over.
First step towards the redevelopment is General Body meeting of cooperative housing society wherein members come together and pass a resolution for the redevelopment of their building.
Once the resolution is in place the next step is to zero down on a developer who can do a quality job, in time and according to schedule. Either a tender is floated or a developer is invited. |
After the selection of developer, all tenants vacate their houses, as they shift to temporary accommodations. |
Rent and deposits for the temporary accommodations is provided by the developer.
The dilapidated building is demolished. |
Meanwhile the applications are filed for IOD/CC and various permissions are sought. |
Once the building is demolished, the construction of new building starts. |
| |
This takes about 18 months. Then, the new executive body comes into being. This is how the redevelopement cycle goes. |
